The Codespring Mentoring Program, organized by SOFTECH, has concluded its fifteenth successful summer session this year. We are already launching its latest series for IT students studying in Târgu Mureș and Cluj-Napoca. Our company considers that it is part of its mission to collaborate with the academic sphere in training the IT professionals of the future, in light of rapidly changing market demands, while also establishing strong and stable relationships with new and potential employees.

Codespring Mentoring Program Internship

Based in Cluj-Napoca, SOFTECH Engineering is a software company with a long history of collaboration with Transylvania’s leading universities. Operating in Cluj-Napoca, Târgu Mureș, and Odorheiu Secuiesc, our highly qualified team, in the spirit of corporate social responsibility, has been committed for sixteen years to preparing real science students at Babeș–Bolyai University and Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania for their future careers.

Keeping Up with the Latest Technologies

The Codespring Mentoring Program by SOFTECH welcomes students enrolled in technical fields starting in their penultimate year of studies to attend courses that complement their university education. One of its main goals is helping them successfully build a foundation of basic full-stack experience.

Every week, participants can learn about the latest backend, frontend, and cloud technologies. At the end of the academic year, upon completion of the program and a successful interview, students may be accepted into our renowned summer internship, the most dynamic phase of the program. During the internship, students work in small teams on tangible projects inspired by real-world, cutting-edge problems. In our offices, with the guidance of their mentors, they can put into practice their previously acquired skills in the complex application of various technologies and are introduced into the world of artificial intelligence and the IoT.

Work and Leisure – As a Team

The 2026 summer internship of the Codespring Mentoring Program by SOFTECH welcomed 21 students in our three offices.

  • 12 students from the Faculty of Computer Science at Babeș–Bolyai University, who worked at our offices in Cluj-Napoca and Odorheiu Secuiesc on a total of 6 projects.
  • 9 students from Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania, who developed 4 projects at our office in Târgu Mureș.

Throughout the summer, we involved the students not only in work and various professional and soft skills training sessions, but also in recreational activities. According to the students, they spent a thrilling and fulfilling summer with us, making it a memorable experience for them. The program concluded in September with project presentations and a closing reception, which served as a proper finale to the months we spent together.

From the Classroom to the IT Market

An undeniable advantage of the internship program is the tangible professional experience it provides. Students participate actively in and shape the process from the initial brainstorming session through architecture design, software development, and the presentation of the finished project. All of this serve as a foundation that can put them at a competitive advantage over other entry-level developers later on. At the same time, it also significantly eases their transition from academia to the job market.

The true cornerstone of the Codespring Mentoring Program by SOFTECH is, without a doubt, SOFTECH Engineering’s experienced team of developers. They provide ongoing professional guidance to IT students during the summer internship, supporting their teamwork at every stage. These software developers help incorporate numerous new methods and technologies – gained through real-world projects – into the internship projects, bringing them in line with the latest market demands. In theory, the prototypes could thus become viable in a market environment. In fact, several projects developed here have even reached end users.

Codespring Mentoring Program: Additional Benefits

Throughout the entire process, one of our top priorities is building strong, stable, and trusted professional relationships with the software developers of the future – including our potential future colleagues. In light of this, the collaboration will continue even after the summer internship ends. Students can further develop their projects for student research conferences and their final state exams, during which their mentors will continue to support them.

We are convinced that a professionally structured mentoring program offers numerous benefits for both the future IT professionals involved in it and the organizing company.

  • Students gain real-world experience in their chosen profession. In addition, the time spent in the office gives them insight into the day-to-day lives of professionals and the details of the work itself. All of this helps them form a realistic picture of their future opportunities and their potential career paths. It also helps them build a professional network, which can open up valuable opportunities.
  • For the company, on the other hand, it offers a longer-term and more comprehensive opportunity to get to know the professionals of the future. It provides valuable insights into the needs and aspirations of the next generation of employees, as well as numerous new perspectives and fresh ideas.

A Smoother Transition from University to the Labor Market

We are particularly pleased to experience the cyclical nature of the Codespring Mentoring Program. A significant number of our former interns have joined our team as colleagues. Also, many of them return to the internship program that once gave them an opportunity, enriching it with their valuable experience as mentors.
