Industrial IoT is an arena where SOFTECH software development team from Cluj, Romania has been playing in the recent years. The 2016 IoT Solutions World Congress that took place in Barcelona, this autumn, propelled itself as the leading global industrial IoT event.
The industrial IoT congress tracks included discussions on manufacturing, transport and logistics, energy & utilities, healthcare, business transformation and innovation and technology. Since the upcoming industrial IoT ecosystem is expected to form the DNA of the 4th Industrial Revolution, questions arose on how the production process and the supply chain can be improved, on how can we prevent equipment failure or systems crashes and how can energy consumption be optimized? Another focus of the industrial IoT debate was on how can we automate and control medical equipment or the diagnosis and treatment processes and on what will be the new business and working models?
Certainly, the most interesting aspects of the industrial IoT talks for SOFTECH software development are the multiple facets of interoperability, standards and methodologies, IoT systems and architectures, edge computing, intelligent platforms, big data, analytics, storage, protocols, the cloud and secuity issues.
And because seeing is believeing, the IoT Solutions World Congress hosted some of the most innovative solutions in the testbeds area. Exploring untested technologies or existing technologies working together in an untested manner is mind opening and route setting. Industrial IoT in action showcased some intriguing examples: surgical kit tracking solutions, smart airline baggage management, Time-Sensitive Networks in a Manufacturing ecosystem of applications, remote patient monitoring and continuous noise monitoring and sound event detection and identification.
The next edition of IOTSWC is planned for October 2017 and it is expected to reunite the leading industrial IoT actors – technology innovators, vertical market leaders, researchers, universities and government organizations.
