In February, SOFTECH celebrates 25 years of international Cooperation with another much-awaited participation at MWC Barcelona 2023!  On Monday, February 27, we have inaugurated the RomaniaIT National Pavilion, together with a selected number of IT companies from all across Romania. SOFTECH’s company booth cheerfully welcomed some of our partners and an impressive number of new visitors, curious about Cluj-Napoca, about Transylvania and Romania.

International Cooperation Is the Foundation of Our Business

Probably you may wonder why we do highlight international cooperation as a key pillar to celebrate during our 25 years anniversary. The main reason to do so, is that, back in 1998, SOFTECH business started with an international software development contract and continued exporting services until today! We can say that SOFTECH was born global since it initially did business with European and US companies.

Our Current Activity on International Markets

Over the years, SOFTECH’s export markets vary according to our software development customer portfolio. In 2022, we started the fiscal year by maintaining our 2022 customer portfolio and opening new projects.

As you can see in the chart below, German tech partners count for 53% of our total service exports. This is due to our long-term collaboration with German companies, to our cultural affinity and similar time zones. We must also note that an important number of our software engineers speak fluently German, even if nowadays English is the most commonly used language across projects, in order to accommodate all team members.

The second major service destination for SOFTECH from Cluj-Napoca is Northern Europe. This region accounts for 30% of our total turnover and it is distributed as follows:

  • 19% of our current software development services exports happens with our Swedish partners, which also accounts for a great long-term collaboration based on high-performance, high quality, high-velocity of product development and mutual cultural affinity.
  • Another 11% of SOFTECH’s total exports is done with Finland, with which we have established successful collaborations in the last decade.

Our third export partner in 2022/2023 became Hungary, with 12% of our software development services export. Being a neighbouring country and having most of our colleagues of Hungarian ethnicity, we always had contracts with Hungary. It is a perfect cultural match and the work relations are much easier when everyone speaks the same language.

The fourth export partner of our company, for 2022/2023 remained United States of America. We have historically worked with partners from the U.S., yet the intensity and volume of cooperation always varies depending on the type of project in which we are engaged.

Software Development Export Markets Outlook for 2023 – 2026

For the nearing future, we are looking forward to establish new software development strategic partnerships with partners from Europe and Northern America. For SOFTECH it is more realistic to commit working with customers with similar work and life cultures.

As the years passed, we have observed that when we had great understanding on how the project needs to be governed and managed, on how resources must be allocated and on how the infrastructure needs to be set up it was much easier to synchronize teams and expectations. When the major elements of any full software development life cycle project are agreed, it is just a matter of fine-tuning our mutual collaboration with the customers.

In Europe, we are looking for potential full application development projects with partners form Germany, Austria, Hungary, Switzerland, Italy, Sweden, Finland and Denmark. These are all countries with which we have solid work experience in software development.

In Northern America, we are looking for partners based in the U.S. and Canada, mainly for the similar software development processes and for the ease of communicating in English.
