One of the best things about being part of a professional community is that we get to share experiences and knowledge from our best practices and successful projects. A few days ago, the local Transilvania IT Cluster and The European Digital Innovation Hub in Transilvania displayed the power of co-creation and innovation via the EU funded project called ENERGENIUS. Some of the members of the Green and Digital workgroup joined the workshop in order to learn about the results of this project and to share inter-regional experiences about sustainable energy creation and consumption.

The Problem Put under Scrutiny by the Project
Despite so many and tangible tech advancements, actual communities most of time lack access to energy-efficient solutions that are easy to implement and customize. In this context, transitioning to a suitable energy system becomes less likely to happen and a real hustle for those in charge.
Limited cross-sector collaboration and high fragmentation block the development of holistic and integrative energy systems.
ENERGENIUS – a Green and Digital Pilot System
What we find revelatory about the presented ENERGENIUS projects is that it proposes a community-driven energy transition model. They propose to bring energy, healthcare, finance, traffic, and real estate stakeholders on a single platform. In essence, this platform integrates Digital Twin Models for enabling real-world energy simulations, Serious Games in order shape new energy-saving habits, Cross-Sectoral Dashboards to capture and analyse real-time data, and AI-Driven Recommendations to offer customized advice for achieving energy efficiency.
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation framework, and involves 17 international partners.
About The Workshop Held At Transilvania IT
The workshop held at the HQ of Transilvania IT in the ABC incubator building, aimed to explore the digital solutions of the ENERGENIUS project, highlighting the use of gamification and artificial intelligence to support the energy transition.
It also aimed to identify the business models and service opportunities based on the technologies developed, with a particular focus on the energy and water consumption behaviors.
The key takeaways:
- The participants discovered the ENERGENIUS project and its innovative ecosystem of digital solutions.
- The group had the chance to explore and debate about the data-driven business models and services, demand management and customized recommendations.
- The organizers included a focus group activity to validate local user needs in order to optimize energy and water consumption, contributing to concrete solutions for suppliers and decision makers.
- Everyone present could find out more about gamification and digital tools that encourage responsible consumption.
- The group explored and revealed synergies between public sectors for integrated resource management.
This workshop was a great meeting with energy professionals, innovators and those who want to contribute to a more efficient and sustainable future!
In a nutshell
The topic of green energy and digital systems is gaining more and more space is our daily activities, since both IT and industries are trying to work together for a better tomorrow. The pressure of limited resources on Earth, of limited living resources for the vast majority of the population and the speed at which technology is making advancements turns into an opportunity to focus on future eco-friendly energy systems.
The workshop chaired by Energius team on the energy and water consumption was revelatory and we totally enjoyed participating. The debate around the ethical obtention of data from the users in order to build intelligent systems is another sensitive topic.
We also want to publicly present our appreciation for Transilvania IT and TEDIH teams who hosted the event and make consistent efforts for promoting innovation across international projects with Romanian, namely Cluj counterparts.
