Computer science students from Softech’s Codespring mentoring program in Târgu Mureș received honorable mentions at the 25th Student Scientific Conference (TDK) held at Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania. Under the guidance of our company’s software developers, they presented exceptional projects, and their results reassure us that investing in the education of future IT professionals truly pays off.

At the academic event held on May 8–9, our teams submitted 4 of the 17 papers in the conference’s Computer Science and Software Development sections. The backbone of their scientific work consisted of projects developed during their summer internship last year.
Our Students Are Among the Top Teams at the Conference
For the past 17 years, training the next generation of IT professionals has been one of our priorities at SOFTECH|Codespring. We provide extracurricular education to computer science students alongside their university studies.
Over these years, thanks to the professional guidance of our dedicated colleagues, our mentoring program has contributed to the completion of hundreds of student projects, state exams, and papers for students’ scientific conferences, many of which excelled in both Cluj-Napoca and Târgu Mureș. Just as in previous years, the results this year have proven that investing in the professional training of future generations is definitely worthwhile.
On May 8–9, within the Computer Science and Software Development sections of the TDK competition, our mentored students presented four theses on which they had been working for almost a year. Their dedicated mentors, who are software developers at SOFTECH|Codespring, contributed to the success of the projects not only by providing professional advice and coordinating the projects but also by helping the students prepare for their presentations. If they could, they even attended the conference to cheer on their mentees.
Much More than a Summer Internship
All of this has confirmed what we are particularly proud of: the fact that the Codespring Mentoring Program offers so much more than a simple summer internship. Participating students gain valuable practical experience in every phase of project development, from brainstorming and implementation to presenting and promoting their work to a professional audience. This knowledge will benefit them when they take their state exams, and later in their professional careers when giving presentations or pitching ideas to investors. The fact that they can take all these steps under the professional guidance of their mentors is certainly advantageous for them in this field.
At the 25th Student Scientific Conference, our students presented the following papers:
- Gaspulse – A fuel price forecasting and data collection app. Developed by: A. Enikő, mentors: M. Roland and K. Bence
- Hygrade – A hybrid educational platform. Developed by: H.-S. Kende and K. Béla. Mentors: T. Endre and B. Tamás
- LearnWithMe: AI-based mobile learning support app. Developed by: E. Mátyás, mentors: Gy. Endre, K. Krisztián
- Interactive museum. Developed by: B. Róbert-Szilamér, Cs. Huba. Mentors: K. Mózes, K. István.
Out of these four projects, two (the Gaspulse fuel price prediction app and the Hygrade hybrid education platform) received honorable mentions from the jury.
Current Strengths and Potential Areas for Improvement
According to mentor K. Bence, his mentee in her paper not only presented a technologically effective and up-to-date solution. She also presented the project nicely and coherently, and this earned her high praise from the jury.
On behalf of the organizers, O-P. Boróka emphasized that the judges evaluated the projects from the mentoring program as being professionally strong, technically well-executed and relevant to current topics. The most positive feedback referred to the architecture, the high-quality implementation, and the practical utility. They found the projects to be innovative, relevant and potentially useful systems. However, they pointed out that the papers could be strengthened further with a greater emphasis on hypotheses, empirical tests, measurement results and statistical analysis.
We warmly congratulate all the students who participated in the conference! They have all demonstrated their perseverance, which will undoubtedly serve them well through their professional career!
