Romanian software development teams excel thanks to their high collaborative skills and can-do attitude. At SOFTECH too, we try to foster teamwork since the early stages of software developer career. That is why an outdoor teambuilding is integrated in the 2025 Summer Internship training schedule. Yesterday, we had the chance to create the right context for our mentors and mentees to leave their comfort zone and take team collaboration to the next level! The outing at Adrenalin Park included tree climbing on the aerial courses and zip lines, as well as the unique team circuit of the adventure park!

Why Teamwork Skills Are Essential In Software Development?

Given the complexity and the duration of the software development projects in which our company is involved, we take teamwork as an imperative skill. During the service delivery, a good team collaboration translates in multiple advantages for both provider and customer teams:

  • It leads to higher mutual trust and respect. This results in an environment of safe knowledge sharing and feedback giving. Therefore, developers will be more open to receiving opinions, reviews and recommendations from their counterparts.
  • It speeds-up problem solving. Open team collaboration and intentional communication brings forth potential issues, optimizations and alternatives. The team will focus on finding solutions for the discussed problems and will try to deliver the highest software quality.
  • It increases effectiveness and delivery speed. Individuals that are trained to embrace teamwork and collaboration become faster in sharing project roles, tasks and deliverables. They have the capacity to transform into high productivity units and profitable development centers.
  • It boosts innovation. Since information technology is a field where major progresses are done via innovative processes, having highly collaborative teams set the terrain for new approaches and open discussions. Shared knowledge among developers can drive to new understanding levels and industry breakthroughs!

That is why, our HR team and the internships coordinators put a special emphasis on practicing teamwork, team collaboration, team planning even outside the standard office hours.

The Transformative Effect of Outdoor Team Adventure

The great thing about getting our teams outside the office and in outstanding venues like Adrenalin Park near Cluj, is that it brings everyone out of their comfort zone. Each member of the team has to cope with new situations, work together on physical tasks, and align their mental state.

The afternoon started with the adventure training on the initiation courses. Soon after everyone experienced a little bit of tree climbing and then, we carried on with the team games from the team circuit. Very entertaining and challenging, these team games raised everyone’s interest and forced people to help each other out from quirky situations. “We especially enjoyed the Team Adventure course and the Spider Web workshop! The students worked very well together and both teams completed the team-building course in record time!” – stated Timi, our student internships administrative coordinator.

By the end of the teambuilding, both mentors and mentees were happy for their teams’ achievements. The interpersonal connections became tighter and we hope it will further help them during the common summer project.

Updates from the Summer Internship in Cluj

The details about the 2025 summer internship have been presented in our previous blog entry. At the moment all the software application development projects are advancing pretty well and the teams are close to the final step: the public presentation of their results in mid-September.

Babeș-Bolyai Univeristy from Cluj-Napoca is our local academic partner for the student summer internship and we strongly recommend anyone interested to enroll in the Informatics and Mathematics Faculty in Cluj, to join the univeristy’s programmes.

Thank you everyone for engaging in the outdoor activities and fingers crossed for the final project presentations!
