Summer has started and so did our summer internship in SOFTECH Târgu Mureș office! Eight students are about to begin their amazing software development journey with a set of interesting projects! Nevertheless, the most exciting part is that, they all will be involved in a hands-on application development process. In times when software development internships are rare, given the general tech industry turbulences, the students enrolled at SOFTECH have the privilege to have senior mentors and a strong academic coordination from the Sapientia University Mathematics and Informatics Department.

Topics of Our Software Development Summer Internship in Târgu-Mureș

In order to make it interesting for the students, at SOFTECH Romania, we try to assign challenging topics and research fields. Each summer, our mentors explore diverse technology tracks that can be both a good way to set foundation level knowledge and a good way to crayon innovative solutions.

Firstly, we invite you to read a few thoughts from our student coordinator in Târgu Mureș office: “July kicked off with excitement at SOFTECH’s Târgu Mureș office. This year, eight students from Sapientia University are taking part in the company’s local summer internship program, which began with a dynamic first week. The schedule included time management training, technical crash courses, and meetings with mentors, attending thesis defenses of recent graduates, and even a refreshing ice cream break to beat the summer heat. The Themes

Secondly, we are happy to share with you a few project themes and the needs they are trying to tackle. We trust that the choice of topic and the drive to come up with reliable software applications and solutions will deliver great results by the end of the summer.

• Hybrid tools for modern education: the project tries to solve the persistent problem in the process of academic paper correction and evaluation. Exactly how and what will be the tech solution, we will find out only at the end of the internship.
• Gaspulse: an interesting project intended to monitor fuel prices in the region and in the country. A potential useful tool for those willing to optimize their fuel costs. The angle of approach and the final result will be presented at the end of summer 2025.
• The Interactive Museum: an engaging way to explore and discover museum collections and the relevant information about them. Even if there are already many interactive technologies addressing the museum environment, this projects tries to engage with a mix of media and immersive tech.
• LearnWithMe: a student oriented app that uses AI technologies in order to generate exercise booklets in tone with the actual knowledge level of the student. The topic of self-directed learning or autonomous learning is on the hype but has many challenges. Based on their own experience, the students enrolled in SOFTECH internship will try to come up with an original solution.

In the third place, we must highlight the fact that the software development internship at SOFTECH is, by design, an opportunity for developing the soft skills needed in the profession. Since the IT industry has become more collaborative, more team oriented and more customer centric, this will be the first time that IT students will test their skills of listening and observing, collaboration, conflict-resolution, project-based communication, analytical and critical thinking, fast learning, empathy and adaptability.
