MWC25 Barcelona was definitely a successful edition according to the figures released by the GSMA at the end of the fair. Over 109000 attendees and 2900 exhibitors, from 205 countries were part of this transformative week in Barcelona! We can say the same from the Romanian pavilion’s perspective. Even if the current economic landscape in Romania is suffering large transformations due to the latest political context in Eastern Europe, investments in the information technology sector are still incoming, high value services are still being exported. Thus, the presence of a selected lot of 21 IT companies from Romania at MWC25 Barcelona was a great opportunity!

romaniaIT – The National Pavilion at MWC25 Barcelona
“romaniaIT – Creative Talent, Technical Excellence” is a public-private initiative formed in 2006 by a few stakeholders including public ministries, professional IT industry associations and private companies willing to promote the Romanian IT sector abroad.
A number of 21 IT companies from Romania were present at Romania IT national pavilion. They covered diverse tech poles from Romania such us: Bucharest, Cluj, Iaşi, Braşov, Iasi, Oradea, Timişoara, Piteşti, Ploieşti, Constanţa.
At the current time, the Romanian IT counts over 44000 companies and employs an estimated number of 180000 employees. In terms of exports, Romania’s ICT services were valued at approximately EURO 11 billion in 2023 and estimated at EURO 12,3 billion in 2024. This growth represents the continuous growth of the Romanian IT sector on the global market and its recognition as a key player in the European Union IT landscape.
Romania has won the recognition of the “young tiger market” of Europe for its tech investment, industrial investments and its highly active trade market. To this, we add its position of an established ITO, BPO, KPO destination. The most recent segment on which Romania tries to make important steps is Research and Innovation. That is why, the presence at MWC Barcelona and other similar tradeshow is crucial.
Cluj Tech Fingerprints in the Romanian IT Stand
The IT companies attending MWC25 Barcelona from the “treasure city” of Cluj-Napoca were: our own company – SOFTECH, together with AROBS Transilvania Software, Be Growee, Redbee Software, Reshape Digital, Wa Aa Web and Xmartware Consulting. The seven representatives of the local Cluj IT community have been selected in such way to cover various services and products in the mobile development and technology arena. Champions of the local IT sector, these companies reflect both mature companies and fresh start-ups willing to launch specialized services on the global market.
Perspectives from Our Industrial-Grade Software Development Team
SOFTECH delegates had the chance to set business meetings and meet with fellow software development experts, with potential clients and current partners. Here are a few impressions that they kindly shared with us after the tradeshow.
“Being at MWC for the first time was impressive! The fact that two days are not enough to see everything, to understand where the world is going, to discover the latest news in technology… it was a very cool experience!” states Tibor B. one of our Project Managers at SOFTECH. He also added that “ It was also a great moment of reflection, since one can realize that both the EU and the USA are in a dangerously tight race with China in the hardware field and in a direct race with India, in the field of software services! The only option for us, in Romania, is to offer high quality services. It was also a moment of pride, as SOFTECH is one of the few fully Romanian-owned companies represented at MWC25 Barcelona. At the same time, the days spent at MWC were also productive, as we had the opportunity to meet with our partners.”
A fresh perspective comes from another colleague from the software development department: “A thrilling experience with an overwhelming number of exhibitors, exciting startup projects, and a lot of time spend discussing with different people about different topics. I found especially interesting meeting the representatives of the “smaller” companies seeking for partners. It was a truly revealing week where we all tried to distinguish ourselves, to raise above and get more attention.” – declares Levente B., Project Manager at SOFTECH.
Talking about the wealthiness of small companies attending MWC25 Barcelona and the 4YFN Arena, our colleague completed: “I also enjoyed the many small startups with different ideas on how to make the world a better place, to find new solutions, or just work on already existing solutions.”
This year, we put a special light on our EV Charging expertise, as an attempt to promote this part of our services. The feedback for this line of service at the international fair was very promising: “Given the fact that on the Electric Vehicles charging topic, we had an impressive number of discussions, MWC25 Barcelona was very productive! The sector is developing quickly and the need for specialized OCPI expertise is rising.” – declared Zoltán Sz., Project Manager at SOFTECH and Expert in EV Charging Solutions.
