Our Cluj software development team reviews MWC Barcelona 2024 as we are heading to the end of Q2 of 2024. The pressure of a high inflation on real disposable incomes, of the ever tighter monetary and financial conditions, cumulated with a weak global demand have accelerated dramatic changes in the local IT landscape. In this context, earlier this spring we were attending MWC Barcelona 2024, the leading mobile technology event as simple visitors, but still as one of the Cluj software development teams ready to connect with the latest innovators, tech disruptors and visionaries. Having a record attendance in 2024, MWC Barcelona has morphed into a cross-sectorial, interdisciplinary and connected ecosystem gathering. Even if Romania was not present with a national pavilion this year, we consider this global event as one of the selected few that worth attending.
A Quick Overview of MWC Barcelon 2024 Edition
Needless to say, MWC Barcelona 2024 was that much expected edition that totally surpassed expectations! After the event had floundered in its post-pandemic hustle for three years, we could see again the joy of reunion, the appetite for doing business and for launching useful products to society at large.
The official statistics of the event counted:
- More than 101000 in-person visitors, coming from 205 countries and independent territories;
- 59% of participants represented industries adjacent to the core mobile ecosystem;
- 26% of the total attendees were women, marking the highest female participation in the history of the event;
- 2700 exhibitors, sponsor and partners showcasing their services and products;
- 1100 speakers and thought leaders
- 2600 journalists and business analysts
- and 930 exhibitors, 450 speakers, and over 1,000 investors with collective funds totaling €50 billion at the 10th anniversary of 4YFN.
We have witnessed an edition where innovation ingenuity, business optimism and the willingness to collaborate were back on track for deal-making and knowledge sharing.
The Take-Home of a Cluj Software Development Team
As a member of Transilvania IT, ARIES Romania, ANIS Romania and part of the North-Western Development Agency’s innovation ecosystem, SOFTECH │ Codespring aimed to promote its own software development services and the value associated with a company originated from Cluj-Napoca, Transylvania, Romania.
A small fish in a big ocean, our Cluj software development team is a fierce player on the local IT market due to it competencies and expertise in the field. Founded over 25 years ago, the company impresses by its resilience and steady growth, and consequently fits very well in the MWC Barcelona landscape.
Even if the discussions still revolve around why should a team from the other part of the world work with a team from Cluj, Romania we are glad to see that business relationships are still initiated on mutual affinity, similar behavior and similar values.
- AI technology has so many unlocked, unexplored possibilities that it simply raised our appetite for doing more on AI development. A simple thing like the Humane AI Pin, revealed the fantastic help in real life situations that an AI powered assistant is capable of.
- Investing in humanoid robot based working environments does not seem such a futuristic idea after seeing Ameca’s Humanoid Robot wowing the crowd with its pre-programmed speech sets and its dance moves.
- The transparent micro LED display and keyboard were better than expected and one could see how visitors kept testing the see-through technology.
- The wearables devices just got to another level with Samsung Galaxy Ring. In the end it is a nice example of how connected wearable devices can work in a pre-designed tech ecosystem.
- We may be soon driving flying cars as one the disruptive innovators at the show aim to start production by the end of 2025!
- Last but not least, all those beautiful devices equipped with powerful cameras will turn around the content strategy of all creators for the next months!
All the above are some of the take-home ideas that we are willing to reflect upon and find possibilities to include in our projects. Nevertheless, there are so many concepts and ideas that we have talked about that week in Barcelona, that we cannot but hope to initiate new interesting collaborations revolving around them.
